I recently took part in a 21 day weight loss challenge with a friend of mine. My friend challenged us in the group to also read the book, Hands Free Mama. I hadn't heard of the book before but I decided that I wanted to read it since it sounded like a book that is relevant to where I am in my life right now. And I am SO glad I did!
The premise of the book is about how as Mamas, we need to disconnect from phones, laptops, etc and ignore our to-do lists for a little while and spending more time with the people who are important - our families. It seemed to me that the main focus in the book was disconnecting from technology but the author also wrote about not focusing on other distractions such as perfection. The perfect house, the perfect body, etc.
Since finishing this book, I have thought it about it several times. (I love it when I think about a book even when I'm finished reading it, and this was one of those books). I realized that it's so easy to focus too much on other distractions and not focus enough on my family. I have noticed since finishing this book that I have said yes to more of the things that matter, things that hopefully my daughters will remember as they grow up. Dance parties in the living room, eating lunch in a tent in the living room, putting the phone down more - all of those things and more have helped me to focus on my family and not on things that don't matter.
I would definitely recommend this book!
